Miscellaneous Quilty Things!

So while I was throwing a party for my new book, I also was out and about doing other quilty things. My guild (the Kansas City Modern Quilt Guild) had it's first ever quilt show - and boy was it fantastic! It was held outside at the quad at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Viewing quilts outside is a wonderful way to see them. The sun sparkled and really showed the quilts in their best light. (And no, no bird poop got on a single quilt!) Plus it was fun to see the groups' quilts all together (you see them one at a time at show and tell, but you forget which quilt goes with what quilter).  I entered three quilts. (To see the whole show, click here.)
"Fork and Spoon", left, and "Outside My Kitchen Window."
"Handyman", left, and unknown on right, but the lady who made it is really nice!
Another quilty thing I did was speak at the Blue Valley Quilter's Guild in Olathe, KS. They are a marvelously talented group of ladies! I enjoyed them very much and they seemed to enjoy hearing about my new book and looking at a selection of my quilts.

In my trunk show, I like to show where I've been so you can appreciate where I am now. The center quilt is from my second book, The Circuit Rider's Quilt - a very traditional interpretation of an 1863 quilt. The quilt on the right is called Abraham Lincoln's Quilt. Again, it's very traditional with piecing and lots of applique! And on the left is a quilt from the new book. Quite a contrast, but to me a natural evolution in my quilting life!
I'd like to announce all the winners from the Launch Party, too! Thanks to everyone who entered - your comments were all so kind and supportive!
