Modern Monday - Block 15

Double Four Patch
Block 15 - Double Four Patch
This is a nice easy block to make while recovering from all those holiday desserts! Enjoy!

I chose a mostly orange print and an orange and gray solid.

Cutting:
From the orange AND gray, cut 4 - 2" squares
From the print, cut 2 - 3 1/2" squares
Here's my fabrics. I got this cool new print for my MM blocks. It has some pink in it so I might add pink to my future blocks. Who knows!

Lay out the cut pieces roughly how they will look when pieced.

First make 2 four patch units using the 4 gray and 4 orange squares. Sew a gray to an orange and press to one side. I chose gray.

Then sew two of these units together to make the four patches.

Sew each four patch to the large square, pressing to the square. Make sure your oranges are going the same direction so you get the full chain effect. Join these together to make your 6 1/2" unfinished block.

  1. Orange is one of my most favorite colors and I absolutely love it with the grey. Fantastic.
