Block 38 - Contrary Wife
Okay, so I picked this block because of the name. It makes me laugh! And if you're not a wife, just substitute "girlfriend" and you'll probably get the joke! All solids this week. |
- From the white, cut 5 - 2 1/2" squares
- From the dark gray, cut 4 - 2 1/2" squares
- From the orange, cut 2 large squares. I cut mine about 3 1/2". Cut both in half on the diagonal to form 4 triangles.
Lay out your white and gray in a 9-patch. |
First, we're going to stitch and flip the 4 gray/orange squares. Lay an orange triangle on top of a gray square sort of off, as shown. How "off" you place it is your business! |
Stitch along the edge of the triangle, trim of the excess gray square and flip open. Press. Repeat with the remaining 3 gray squares and triangles. |
Trim to 2 1/2". |
Lay out in a 9-patch making sure the triangles point in the right direction. They should face in. |
Sew together in rows and join the rows to make your 6 1/2" block. |
