Traditional Tuesday - Block 48

Block 48 - Chevron Zigzag
This block is a traditional block, but is has become so identifiable as a Modern block, it makes modification hard. So, I decided to leave it exactly as is for the Traditional version! I don't know that I've ever done that before!
I made this surprisingly matchy-matchy. I don't usually do that! And big shock, I chose blues! Remember a busy print helps hide imperfect points. I should have chosen busier fabrics! |
From the white, cut:
2 - 4 1/4" squares. Cut each in half on both diagonals to make 8 quarter-square triangles (we only need 6).
2 - 2 3/8" squares. Cut in half on one diagonal to make 4 half-square triangles.
From both the light blue AND dark blue, cut:
1 - 4 1/4" squares. Cut each in half on both diagonals to make 4 quarter-square triangles (we only need 3).
1 - 2 3/8" squares. Cut in half on one diagonal to make 2 half-square triangles.
Lay out your cut pieces in 4 rows and sew together. Remember to offset the triangles by 1/4". Refer to yesterday's instructions for offsetting the triangles. Press. |
Sew the rows together and press. Your block will be 6 1/2" square. |
