Block 53 - Butterfly
One of the things I like most about Modern is it's minimalistic quality. I like taking an image down to its most simplest form - but yet, you can identify it in a blink. That's this block to at T. It's two simple shapes - the wings and the body, but you know instantly what it is even though no true butterfly would ever look like this.
| Three fabrics are enough - background, the wings and the body. A two-tone body/wing combo would look nice too (for example, dark blue body, light blue wings). |
| Cut your background square about 7". |
| I used a zigzag stitch and backspaced as I was sewing to create a casual, "artistic imperfection!" For the body, I used a short straight stitch on the very edge of the shape. After sewing, trim the block to 6 1/2" square. |
Thank you so much for this post. I want to let you know that I posted a link to your blog in Creative Busy Bee Craft Inspirations, under the Page 2 post on Oct. 08, 2012. Thanks again.
