Modern Monday - Block 57

Piano Keys
Block 57 - Piano Keys
This actually should be called Piano Keys Variation since I deviated greatly from the norm. But as I was laying it out, the yellow and medium orange bars got switched and I really liked the look! Plus the three colors really work for this block. I can't wait to see what color combinations you come up with!
Two oranges, a yellow and medium gray
Cutting:
From each orange and the yellow, cut 1 - 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip and 1 - 1 1/2" x ~4" strip (cut in half to make 2 - 2" strips).
From the gray, cut 3 - 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" strips

Lay out the strips as shown.
Sew the short colored strips to each end of the gray strips. Press.
Trim if necessary so there is 1 1/4" of the color showing on each end and the strips are 6 1/2" long.
Lay out the pieced strips and the colored strips in pairs. You can match or mix and match the colors depending on your mood.
Sew together to make your 6 1/2" block. I deviated from this in my finished block because I liked the look. You do what makes you happy!
