Modern Monday - Block 60

No Name Block
Block 60 - No Name Block
I know you're thinking this isn't much of a block, but it's really more of a unit. When you make a bunch of these and put them together, it makes a neat quilt top. It's easy and fast making it perfect for a quick gift.
You need two fabrics for this block. I decided to go back to gray for this one. I've been using so much white lately I thought it would be nice to mix it up again.
 Cutting:
From the gray, cut
1 - 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangle
1 - 3 1/2" square

From the orange, cut
1 - 3 1/2" square
Lay out the pieces as shown.

Sew the squares together, pressing to the dark. Then sew the rectangle to the squares unit. Your block will be 6 1/2".
For your quilt, you can make the gray any neutral you like. For the colored square, try using every color of the rainbow or different shades of the same color in a mixture of prints and solids if you don't want them all the same.

When setting the blocks together you can either go super-controlled and line them up all identically or you can rotate them until you find a pattern that you like or go random and see what that does for you!

This would make the most darling (and fast) baby quilt done in pastels or an eye spy quilt for an older child. Anything you come up with would be wonderful!
