Day 6 of The Modern Applique Workbook Blog Tour

Today to start off week two of The Modern Applique Workbook blog tour, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Casey York. I've known her only a short time, but I feel like we are kindred souls when it comes to applique! She gravitates toward more graphic designs and a big dose of nature thrown in - both are my favorites, too!
Here's a beautiful bug pillow by Casey.

Another by Casey - doesn't this look celestial? Or maybe it's a colorful dandelion!
Casey wrote the most fabulous review of the book. Head over there and take a look! And don't forget to enter the giveaway contest for a free copy of The Modern Applique Workbook.

Before you go, I'd like to tell you about another of the quilts in the book, Fall.
Fall from The Modern Applique Workbook.
I love the name of this quilt - Fall - because it could mean the season or the simple act of leaves falling. I chose the simple elegance of yellow and gray for the color palette. I don't think that combination will ever get old for me! The variety of gray prints I used for the leaves came from a 5" charm swap I participated in online several years ago. It was my first swap but not my last! (But that's a story for another time!).

After I laid out the leaves and the tree trunk, it seemed too plain. So I pieced a yellow "blob" behind the leaves. What does it look like to you? The canopy of the tree or the setting sun? I can't decide!

Thank you for joining me in the second week of the blog tour! This week I have five more friends lined up for you to meet! I hope you continue along with us! (They each have a contest, so be sure to enter!)
