Today's guest blogger is Shea Henderson of Empty Bobbin Sewing Studio. Shea is the creative mastermind of some wonderful quilts that you can make too! She and her team of top designers have put together some patterns that will make you drool! And what I like best about her style is the total saturation of color that she uses! I'm all for negative space and neutrals, but my heart belongs to color! And so does Shea's

Head to her blog to read about The Modern Applique Workbook and don't forget to say hi in the comments to enter to win a copy of the book! But before you go, take a look at another quilt from the book.

Star Bright - the cover girl!
Today's quilt is Star Bright and she's also the cover girl! I wanted this quilt to have plenty of negative space with both neutral and color solids to showcase the applique. I knew I wanted the band of orange to be where it is, but originally, I had the blue star that's in the lightest orange on the top row next to the green star. It was nice, but a bit too expected and it really threw the balance of the quilt off. The right side was just too heavy. By simply moving one of the stars to the far left column, the balance was instantly restored and the quilt became suddenly much more interesting! Perfect!

And the quilting is really clever on this quilt! I can't take credit though. The fabulous Angela Walters came up with the quilting. I'll talk more about the quilting on this one after the blog tour is over. There's just so much to say about it!

Here's links to the other guest bloggers. If you haven't visited them yet, head there now to enter the book giveaway! Some of the giveaways are closed now, so be sure to check before you enter!
