Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Vol. 10 Blog Tour and Giveaway!
Once again, I'm so happy to be a part of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks! I've been in 5 issues now and on the cover for the second time in this issue! Do you see it?
Well it might help to actually to show you the block so you can find it!

Crossing the Circles |
I love this block! It's actually 4 - 6" blocks put together to make 1 - 12" block. I'm so in love with solids and deep, saturated colors! And of course I have to work in shades of gray in almost every quilt I make! It's a very simple block to make. You just appliqué the center circle and slice and add strips of gray. For full instructions, go to page 36 of Vol. 10. I can see a full quilt made of this block, or a border, or set alternated with plain squares of solid color. Almost anything goes with this block!
And now for the giveaway! One lucky quilter will receive a copy of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Vol. 10. Just leave a message telling me your favorite block (sorry, no bonus points for picking mine, but I'll be flattered!). I'll pick a winner early next week. Then, head to Quilty Pleasures, Quiltmaker's blog for more chances to win! Good luck!
I am Bonnie Hunter's #1 fan, so I gotta go with her block! :)
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see them all but so far I like the little bird block. I love birds. Yours is good too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Jenifer, on having another block in the magazine and making it to the cover! I really do like this block. It's very similar to blocks that I won in a block lotto and would be a great variation to use for making more blocks to go with the other ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, I love it, I have just bought a gorgeous range of solids,so this would be perfect, simple but effective!
ReplyDeleteI think all of the blocks are just beautiful. Such creative quilters!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You have a lovely block.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites blocks are Gudrun Erla's.
I can"t make a choice, They are all very nice and every block has his own oppertunity. Sorry I love all the 100/ 1000
ReplyDeleteI like Nancy Mahoney's Rainbow Star. It's hard to choose when you don't have the book. I have been to so many sites and seen so many blocks but it's hard to remember their names. I'm sure there are many others but I will go with Nancy's!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I won't get bonus points, but I really do like yours best...I like the free pieced part of crossed circles!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great design! So fresh and modern, and a perfect favorite!
ReplyDeleteIt is really hard to pick just one favorite because there are so many wonderful creations. I like the all so far of what I have seen on the blog hop.
ReplyDeleteToday, my favorite block is a specific Maple leaf block that is made up of several HSTs and lots of solid blocks for the center. I found it in a Linda Potter Book.
ReplyDeleteGreat block!!! I guess if I have to choose, the ice skating bird would be my favorite.
ReplyDeleteCrossing the Circles is an intriguing block and I look forward to making it.
ReplyDeleteI do actually like yours the best. I'm into circles right now and I like this twist on them
ReplyDeleteI like your block, it's so original and different but looks fairly easy. My favorite block has to be the skating bird, he's so cute.
ReplyDeleteFun block. My fav block so far is the Tangled Hearts block

ReplyDeleteI have to day the skating bird. I am a applique girl. Drhodes9@cox.net
ReplyDeleteEven though I haven't tried applique, my favorite blocks are yours and the skating cardinal. I suspect I should take my own hint and learn the technique. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of the ones I've seen is "dreaming of spring."
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and thank you for the giveaway. My favorite blocks are star blocks--two of which are Star Wash Block and Serendipity Stars.
ReplyDeleteGreat block - one of my favourites!!

ReplyDeleteI love all the blocks and can't pick just one. Thanks for a chance to win a copy of the magazine.
ReplyDeleteYour block has a very modern look. Very nice. So far I like Tangled Hearts and the one with the little sheep. But, then again, with so much variety, there is something for everyone!

ReplyDeleteThis issue has lots of great blocks. The ice skating bird is my favorite. -- soparkaveataoldotcom
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your block being chosen for the book. I can't pick a favorite because my mind is racing with ideas of so many I've seen!
ReplyDeleteYour block is a cool modern looking block. It is tough to choose among all the ones I've seen this week. I'm loving "spring" by Deonn as it is so happy; but, since I'm not much into applique, i'd most likely never make it. I also love the bear's paws within a bear paw block. I can't remember the name of the block; but, it was a twist on traditional blocks and those really appeals to me!
ReplyDeleteso far my favorite is the one with the bunnies
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm secretly a bird lover (so secret I didn't even know) because 2 of my favorites are both birds. One is the ice skating bird from day 2 (I think) and there was a sweet little bird yesterday. Go figure. I do like your crossed circles. I'd love to see different layouts using this! Congrats on being in the 100!~
ReplyDeleteThere are several blocks with birds I have my eyes on. Oh and one that reminds me of crystals.
ReplyDeleteCabin Stars is my favorite. Love the shapes and colors.
ReplyDeleteI really like Chinese Lantern.
ReplyDeleteI can't pick a favorite block as there are so many great ones from which to choose. I would like to use your block in a sampler quilt of houses. It makes me think I am inside looking out at the sun or the moon.
ReplyDeleteThere have been so many beautiful blocks . . . it's nearly impossible to pick just one! I love geometric blocks and there have been a number of those -- so I'd have to say "Diamonds Are Forever" rated the highest of those! I think your block is fascinating . . . it's very Asian to me! :)
ReplyDeleteHard choice. I think # 999 Diamonds are forever. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteCongatulations on your block. There are so many blocks that I have liked--Bonnie Hunter's and Nancy Zieman for different reasons and the tangled hearts but I have so many that I want to make.
ReplyDeleteI can't choose. I like them all
ReplyDeleteand want to make so many of them.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Love your block. No way to choose a favorite as they are all inspiring

ReplyDeleteMan, it' so hard to pick a favorite! I love them all. I think I'd choose the bird on ice skates.

ReplyDeleteI like the ampersand block. I like words and punctuation.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I like them all and look forward to trying to make lots of them. It is so much fun to see all the different blocks made in so many different ways. Thanks for sharing yours.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Starry Hearts...there are so many amazing blocks though, including yours and it's hard to pick just one!
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to pick just one because there were soooo many that fired me up. I can feel my current UFO's taking a temporary back seat so I can get crackin' on making MANY of these new blocks! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI like the skating on thin ice block.
ReplyDeleteI love your block- it's so different! (but I'm not a fan of grey!)

I hate having to pick favorites! I dunno.....
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen all of the blocks yet but every day I find at least one if not more that I really want to make. I think your block would make a stunning border on a quilt I'm planning but I've never done applique so I'll need to study the directions. Congratulations on being picked for this special edition! deborahmay816@comcast.net
ReplyDeleteI really like Denise's skating bird.
ReplyDeleteI'm picking your block. It has some wonderful possibilities! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI can't pick just one! Bought the magazine-couldn't wait to see if I would win one. Really enjoying "meeting" the designers.
ReplyDeleteToday, it's "and so on" but it's really hard to pick one. Congratulations on having your bock included.
ReplyDeleteLove your crossing the circles but I love Quiet Plays cottage too!!!!

ReplyDeleteCall me old fashioned but I love Log Cabin Squares!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, your block would be one I would actually make - easy enough, but looks complicated!!! What's not to love???!!!

ReplyDeleteThere are so many of the blocks that I like, that I can't pick just one.
ReplyDeleteI really like your block and the one I would make first is the skating bird block.
ReplyDeleteToday my favorite block is the nine-patch. Yesterday it was the churn dash, and the day before that the log cabin. I love, love traditional blocks and the stories behind them.
ReplyDeleteI don't have just one favorite; I will say I'm partial to landscape quilts and house blocks!
ReplyDeleteGundruns block is my favorite. Your solid fabrics look so amazing and you could slice that circle anywhere and make a wonky look, well mine would be because I can't cut straight. Yes I will have fun making your
ReplyDeleteblock.
It would be so hard to pick one. But I liked Jocelyn's from Fat Quarter Shop. I do love your header! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteDo I really have to pick just one block? I really like your block because it tilts modern, I really like Bonnie Hunter's because it is scrappy. Okay, I'll just stop at those two. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOooh, cool modern block design! Love the quilting in your header, too. fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to pick just one but as I am a scrappy quilter, I would have to choose Bonnie Hunter's block
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the issue yet except for the cover but I can honestly say your block is the one that caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteFavorite block in general? I haven't seen the 100 blocks yet, but I typically go for log cabin remixes. Your block is really neat.
ReplyDeleteMy very favorite from this tour has been the "Bear Paw Nested". I have never done a mod quilt but may try it with your block. It is lovely.
ReplyDeletenot having seen them all yet, I'd definitely have to pick yours! I love the bold colors, the cut-apart circles - it's all so exhilirating! I'm going to give this a try right now - at least make a throw cushion cover, if not something bigger!!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Liz

With so many great blocks it's sew hard to pick just one favorite. I do love bold bright colors, rainbows, butterflies, water falls...ok some of those don't exactly have to do with quilting...but guess you can figure it out.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of great blocks on the tour, but the intertwining hearts block (can't remember the name of it) keeps coming to mind.

ReplyDeleteI will definitely try this one! But I think my favorite so far was the paper pieced girls!
ReplyDeleteYour block is cool!
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty hard to pick! I like your circle block, because I like to combine piecing and applique.
ReplyDeleteMy 7 yr old son loves geometry, so yours is on my to-do list. I'm still turning it around and seeing all the possibilities with the bar vs the circle. He's "helping" LOL!
ReplyDeleteThere were many cool blocks on the hop. The one designed by Carolyn Beam sticks in my mind though.
ReplyDeleteLove your Block too...but want to make the iceskating Cardinal!!
