How to Hang a Quilt: Tips for Framing Your Piece of Art

If you’re like most people, you probably think of a quilt as a piece of bedding. However, many people now view quilts as pieces of art that deserve to be displayed prominently in their homes. If you have a quilt that you would like to frame and hang on your wall, read on for some tips on how to do it correctly!

One important thing to keep in mind when hanging a quilt is the weight of the fabric. Quilts can be quite heavy, so you’ll need to make sure that your chosen frame is strong enough to support the quilt. You should also take care to avoid damaging the quilt by using sharp objects or nails.

Another consideration is the type of fabric your quilt is made from. If your quilt is made from delicate fabrics, you’ll need to take extra care when handling it. Quilts made from heavier fabrics can be easier to handle but may require special supports in order to prevent them from sagging over time.

Once you’ve decided on a frame and chosen the right hanging supplies, it’s time to start hanging your quilt! The first step is to find the center of the quilt and mark it with a pencil. Then, determine where you want the top of the quilt to be and mark that spot as well.

Next, fold the quilt in half so that the two marks you made are touching. Then, fold the quilt in half again and mark the center once more. Using these marks as a guide, draw a line across the quilt that will be used to hang it on the wall.

Now it’s time to attach your chosen hanging supplies to the quilt. If you’re using hangers, start by attaching them to the top corners of the quilt. Then, position the quilt on the wall so that the hangers are at the top of the line you drew earlier. Once you’re happy with the placement, mark the spot where each hanger will go on the wall and drive nails into those spots.

If you’re using a rod to hang your quilt, start by threading the rod through the top of the quilt. Then, position the quilt on the wall and mark the spot where you want the rod to be attached. Once you’ve found the perfect spot, use a drill to make pilot holes for screws and then screw the rod into place.

Now all that’s left to do is enjoy your beautifully displayed quilt! Thanks for reading and happy crafting!
